Domain Name Registration
Once
a domain is registered, who "owns" the domain name?
The
"owner" of a domain name is the original administrative contact listed
at the time of registration, regardless of whether the administrative contact
information has been changed since then. In other words, the owner of a
domain name is the individual whose name and contact information was initially
associated with the user name and password profile for the domain name.
If
the administrative contact information has been changed since the original
registration, the most recent administrative contact information entered
will be visible in the WHOIS record. However, this information may not
be that of the actual owner of the domain name.
Why
should I register a Web Address?
A
Web Address is more than your Internet address, it's your Internet identity,
your online brand. It puts you on the map of today's business world, opening
your business to literally millions of users world-wide. When you register
a Web Address, you'll join over 4 million others who are reaping the rewards of being online.
How can I determine if the Web Address I want is available?
It's
easy to find out if the name you want is available. Simply enter your desired
Web Address in the box below. If it is available we suggest that you do
not register that name, but contact Simply Web Services and set-up an account.
If you do choose to register that domain, it is harder for us to gain access
to it for our hosting. If you choose to host else where, you may want to
allow them to set up the domain name also.
I've
noticed a lot of business Web Addresses end in .COM. Should I secure my
Web Addresses in .COM too?
Absolutely,
.COM is the Web Address associated with business. From Fortune 500 companies
and large corporations to home based and small operations, over 3 million
users world-wide are currently enjoying the benefits of a .COM address.
Why
does it cost extra to register a domain name at most hosting providers?
Good question. We guess that they are just after your money. Some registrars charge $70.00 for the first two years to register a domain name. There is never a set-up fee to register a domain name at Simply Web Services. As long as your hosting a site with us, we will take care of the domain name registration absolutely free of charge (you must pay the annual fee of $12.95, with a 2 year fee upfront for domain registration). We would not have it any other way.
Currently we have an agreement to register domain names for only $12.95 a year, with the 2 year agreement.
